"While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about."
Two years ago today, February 21st, 2008, I gave birth to my second son, Ethan Samuel. I labored through the night, from midnight until a little before 9am. You were born into a quiet room, my doctor, your daddy & me, & a couple of nurses, few distractions, tiny & pink, wiggly & screaming. Once swaddled you calmed down. You loved to be wrapped tight, swaddled you to sleep until you were 6 months old. When they brought you to me I thought, "Wow, I can't believe he's mine!" Giving birth is such a miracle, that moment your baby is born is quite indescribable. The elation of new life, the bond that begins to form, the instinct to nurture, unconditional love, shear happiness, tiny toes & fingers, bundled joy, soft wrinkled skin, small cries, rooting mouths, tiny grasps, stiff stretches, & never ending baby cuddles. And now sweet son you are growing quite quickly. From newborn to toddler... I've watched you roll, scoot, crawl, stumble, fall, walk, run, slide & jump... I've heard you babble, bumble, sputter, spit, one word into two, chatter, chatter, talk and talk. Can't wait to see what the next year has to hold!
